Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of teacher certification in Indonesia. Teacher certification is an important government policy in improving the quality of education. This article was written using a literature review. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that teachers have a fundamental role in determining the quality of education. This condition requires professional teachers who have adequate competency standards, consisting of at least high commitment, knowledge and skills both for teaching and organizing classes. Without adequate professional competence, teachers will not be able to carry out their duties well. One of the best strategic ways to improve teacher quality is to fulfill the professional qualifications required as professionals through a teacher certification program. The government's certification program is a form of fulfillment of the target of improving the quality of teaching staff through increasing teacher competence and welfare.
